Human resources leaders have been central to their companies’ pandemic responses, writes Bhushan Sethi, joint global leader, People and Organisation, for PricewaterhouseCoopers US. Sethi cites a PwC Pulse Survey from November in which 89% of chief human resource officers said they wanted to make elected officials aware of how President Joe Biden’s tax proposal would impact their businesses. In contrast, 78% of survey respondents representing all business leaders expressed the same interest.
“They’ve led on complex issues like employee safety and mental health, productivity and morale,” Sethi says. “They were pivotal in the transition to remote work, and they’ve helped their organizations’ leaders navigate hard choices about furloughs and severance.”
