Start-ups offering human resource and recruiting software overall have raised substantial amounts of money since the dawn of the "dot-com" era and industry tracker Dow Jones VentureSource notes there was a sizable $542.79 million invested in U.S.-based HR and recruiting companies last year.
"That was the highest amount invested since 2000, when venture capitalists poured $859.1 million into the sector. In 1999, there was $599.6 million invested in human resources and recruiting companies," the report states.
