Shortage of Talent Inside HR and Out

While HR departments continue to struggle with finding qualified candidates to stock their company’s talent pool, HR departments themselves may be short-handed. So reports the Northwestern.

A Society of Human Resource Management survey shows a majority of managers consider “retaining and rewarding top employees” as a major challenge, up 9 percentage points between 2010 and 2012, indicating an emphasis on company-wide personnel needs.

Further complicating matters, filling HR positions has evolved into more than simply pulling low-level employees from other departments, as complex labor laws and a demand for personnel expertise have made filing HR jobs more difficult.
