ACLU: Report on Hollywood Discrimination Led to Government Investigation

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs have been asked to investigate discriminatory hiring practices in Hollywood after the ACLU conducted research regarding the frequency of female directors finding work. So reports Time.

The ACLU collected information from more than 50 female directors during a two-year audit, prompting the civil rights group to take action. Last year only 9% of the top 250 highest grossing movies were helmed by women. The EEOC can file charges against one or more studios or networks if they conduct an investigation and find evidence of hiring malpractice.
