Start-ups Without HR Units Facing Trouble

Just a few years ago, many start-ups were widely considering foregoing hiring a traditional "HR person," which some saw as anachronistic. Many chose not to embrace the "bureaucracy of human resources," and that decision may have cost them in the long run. So reports Fast Company.

An aversion to HR has caused some companies to struggle to cultivate a workforce and some companies without an HR department lack general anti-harassment procedures that promote a positive culture. While software can provide administrative cost-savings, it cannot replace the experience of human interaction, especially with respect to sensitive topics like health and well-being, the story reads.
