Phishing Scam Baits HR Manager

A human resources manager for a California school district took the bait from a phishing scam that led to the release of confidential information on 2,507 employees. So reports The Bakersfield Californian.

The HR manager responded to what seemed like a superior’s request for information on employees, according to Rob Meszaros, spokesman for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office. The manager tried to retrieve the email after realizing the scam, but it was too late. Some of the information compromised included Social Security numbers.
