In Hong Kong, 82% of employees say they will rely on the government to ensure they still have a job, while 85% say employers will need to be proactive to ensure they are still working as they grow older. That is higher than the average for their global counterparts, where 63% say they will depend on the government and 75% on employers to advocate on their behalf.
"With an ageing workforce, we need to work together to break down social stigmas associated with mature workers," says Natellie Sun, managing director of Randstad Hong Kong. "Organisations that provide age-friendly workplace initiatives will benefit from increased workplace productivity and reduced turnover rates."
Malaysia ranked most confident among Asian markets with 76% and 81% of employees believing they need government and employers support, respectively, to ensure they are employable. In Singapore, 85% of workers say they will rely on the government to keep them employed longer, while 90% will count on employers.
