Oracle to Cut 900+ Workers In China

U.S.-based Oracle is taking an ax to more than 900 employees in China. So reports CNBC, citing Chinese media.

The cuts will come mainly from the firm’s local research and development workforce of 1,600. The Beijing site alone will get rid of 500 workers, with the eventual goal of closing down that location entirely.

Oracle neither denied nor confirmed the reports. But, in a statement to CNBC the firm noted that “As our cloud business grows, we will continually balance our resources and restructure our development group to help ensure we deliver the best cloud services to our customers in China.” Asia Pacific makes up about 16% of Oracles total revenues.
