The 'Lady' Revolution at Google

When one shareholder chastised another for addressing Google’s CFO Ruth Porat as ‘the lady CFO’ at the firm’s annual shareholder meeting, it sparked a novel protest against sexism in the workplace. So reports Business Insider

A Google employee who graduated from the firm’s leadership-development program for woman suggested to her email group that they all change their titles to “Lady _____” as a way to protest. Google is reflective of the lack of diversity in the tech industry, with 70% of employees being men and 60% white. More than 800 Google employees, both men and women, joined the protest by adding “Lady” to their job titles on the company directory or to their email signatures. June 16 and 17 also became known as “Lady Day” at Google.
