Employee Loyalty Comes From Companies That Promote Ethics

Salary and benefits are always top concerns for employees, but businesses that promote ethics will have a competitive advantage. So reports Science Daily.

Employees rated bosses who promote strong ethics from within as important to keeping them happy. And human resource departments in some prominent firms are pushing so-called “emotional buy-ins” to keep turnover low and improve job satisfaction, a Baylor University study found.

“While many companies focus on making employees more customer service-minded, promoting core values is a way to engage employees and increase their commitment and loyalty to the organization and at the same time encourage ethical decision making," says Marlene Neill, assistant professor of journalism, public relations and new media in Baylor’s College of Arts & Sciences. Neill interviewed 32 executives in public relations, HR and marketing from 26 companies in 11 states, including some Fortune 500 firms.
