County Shrugs Off Federal Suit Naming Its New HR Hire

Michigan’s Wayne County hired Shonta Langford-Green to lead its human resources department despite knowing she is listed in a federal lawsuit filed last month. So reports the Detroit Free Press.

Langford-Green had served as director of human resources in the Van Buren school district, where four teachers sued her and other district and school board officials. The teachers charged their rights were stomped on when they were linked to a student cheating scandal that they have denied.

But a spokesman for Wayne County, James Canning, said they offered Langford the job in April and she had given them a heads up on the cheating scandal when they interviewed her. “It did not raise any concerns for us,” Canning said. Langford-Green would not comment on the suit, but said she was looking forward to her new job.
