Pierre Tremblay and his team had to contact 110 job applicants after someone in human resources mistakenly emailed everyone the same letter that was sent to one candidate letting her know she did not get the job. Tremblay, director of HR for Montreal-based Dupray, a company that manufactures environmentally friendly steam cleaners and irons, says the culprit, besides human error, was not having the proper software.
One step Dupray’s company took to avoid future mistakes was to implement so-called “fail-safe remainders before any email goes out to a job candidate,” the story notes. “It’s all about having technology verify your decision,” Tremblay says. “You need to make that conscious decision that, yes, this is what I want to do.”
