Chief People Officer for AGL Energy Calls for 'Holistic' HR

The Chief People Officer for Australia's AGL Energy urges a "holistic" approach to human resources that focuses on organisational capacity. So reports HRM Asia.

Rita Trehan, who also is an HR transformation consultant, defines building capacity as "all the things that go into making a business successful--from the people, to the culture, to the organisation itself." A holistic approach goes beyond what "we traditionally thought about HR," she notes.

"When looking at engagement from the perspective of capacity, what we really need to talk about is culture, because culture really takes a holistic view of the company," Trehan says. "That way, you're really looking at all the drivers--external and internal--and that's how you build capacity."
