How HR Highlights Health and Wellbeing

Human resources teams across Asia are taking an out-of-the-box approach to how they implement their healthcare and wellness programs. So reports Human Resources.

Swiss Re, a reinsurance firm, gives its employees the freedom to work away from a designated desk and without tracking their attendance or work hours.

The firm launched its so-called Own-The-Way-You-Work policy three years ago in an effort to foster a huge culture change focused on wellbeing. During that three-year period, the firm has introduced standing desks and customized work stations.

"In our perspective, it's about the holistic wellbeing of employees and not sporadic wellness initiatives in isolation," says Sanjiv Agarwal, HR director for Swiss Re's Southeast Asia division. "This policy has added a lot of value to the proposition we offer as an employer, giving employees the flexibility to make their own decisions."

In Singapore, 61% of employers consider health and productivity as top concerns and plan to boost their focus in this area over the next three years, according to Audrey Tan, head of health and benefits, Singapore, Willis Towers Watson.
