Dwindling Number of Foreign Execs in South Korea

The number of foreign executives in the top 100 companies in South Korea by sales have seen their ranks dwindle. So reports The Korea Herald.

Foreign executives made up 1.4%, or 94, out of 6,843 of their management peers in those 100 companies last year, according to the Korea CXO Institute. That is slightly down from when foreigners numbered 1.5% of executives in 2015.

There were 45 foreign executives at one of country's largest corporations, Samsung Electronics, in 2018, representing 47.9% of the total number of executives for the top 100. That is down from 57 foreign executives in 2015.

Of the 100 firms surveyed, 80 had zero foreign executives in 2018, said Oh II-sun, director of the Korea CXO Institute.
