Hong Kong to Lift Minimum Wage to Highest Level Ever

Hong Kong will lift its minimum wage from HK$34.50 to HK$37.50 effective May 1. So reports the Hong Kong Free Press.

This represents the highest increase since the territory implemented a minimum wage.

About 150,000 workers, mostly in the security and service industries, will be affected by the increase. The increased minimum wage is anticipated to boost labor costs by about HK$700 million a year.
