Global Players in China Up Their HR Game

Global firms in China are enhancing their human resources strategies to elevate the skills of their local employees rather than just focusing on bringing in top talent from overseas. So reports China Daily.

“As the business transforms, we have developed new initiatives at the strategic level of human resources by establishing a comprehensive digital talent strategy,” says Zhang Yanyan, senior vice president for HR at Schneider Electric China. That strategy means offering digitally-savvy recruits customised learning programs, and incentive and retention schemes.

“After recruiting them, our job is to build the environment for them to develop and grow, and support them whether it's through brainstorming ideas or challenging them," she said. The France-headquartered firm opened its first joint venture factory in Tianjin with less than 100 employees 32 years ago. It now has 17,000 workers in the country as well 23 factories and 37 regional offices.
