The Pledge for Paternity Leave program is collecting signatures from fathers and business owners that it hopes will encourage change. The $1 million fund will be disbursed as $5,000 grants through 2020, with the goal of helping men who are not able to get paid leave. Fewer than 20% of American men receive paternity leave from their workplace, while many don’t use the leave they are already afforded, according to Unilever.
