Important Steps for Luring Quality Job Seekers

A recent survey of 200+ job seekers conducted by the HR consulting firm ManpowerGroup had some interesting findings for employers. So reports Forbes.

The main takeaway was that companies need to do a better job of making connections with prospective hires, and to more closely customize the search process to find the most appropriate fit.

Some other noteworthy tips for recruiters:

  • Keep your company’s website up-to-date – and relevant: 86% of the respondents say they rely on a firm’s website as their primary resource. They want the skinny on job openings, corporate culture, and the potential for career development.
  • Know your social-media users: Facebook is popular, but not for all job seekers. While Millennials tend to use the site primarily for socializing, job hunters going to your Facebook page are likely older and not in top-tier professions or pay scales. People using LinkedIn (especially in conjunction with Instagram) tend to be more serious about their search.
  • In-person meetings still count for a lot: Nearly three-quarters of respondents say they’re most comfortable in a face-to-face meeting with a hiring manager. Candidates for higher-paid positions tend to be more open to videoconferencing and other venues.
  • Corporate culture carries weight: Recruiters need to sell the firm’s brand and goals; otherwise, top-tier talent will look elsewhere.
  • Your on-line presence needs to be accessible on any desktop, laptop, tablet and smart phone out there, as candidates search from any and all platforms these days.
