“Whenever someone asks you your opinion, you give it,” said Liz Lieberman, recounting advice her boss told he at the start of her career. “It taught me to trust my instincts and stand strong in my convictions and I look for those same qualities in potential hires.”
Lieberman came to RBC from Royal Bank of Scotland where she was global head of HR. She also has worked in high level HR positions at Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank.
“Also, I look for humor—I spend a large portion of my week at work and I want to have a laugh with colleagues, especially during high stress, looming deadline moments,” she said. As far as the most crucial interview question for prospective hires, Lieberman says it would be what they are passionate about. “That tells me a lot about a person: what their strengths are and what motivates them,” she said.
