City Recruits Manager to Eliminate Institutional Racism 

The city of Asheville, N.C., has hired a manager who will be charged with expelling institutional racism and elevating opportunities for minorities. So reports the Citizen-Times.

Kimberlee Archie became the city’s first equity and inclusion manager last month. Equity and diversity became priorities early last year. The city has recently dealt with a fatal police shooting of an African-American man by a white officer. A study also found that the city’s police stop and search a disproportionate number of black drivers.
