Larry Miller worked at Minneapolis-based Starkey Laboratories when the company’s majority owner, Bill Austin, fired him September 2015. Miller and former president, Jerry Ruzicka, and former chief financial officer, Scott Nelson, also fired, were alleged to have helped embezzle more than $20 million from the firm.
Miller, Ruzicka and Nelson all pleaded not guilty. Miller filed his suit last month. Starkey company officials had released a statement last month noting that Miller was part of a group “carrying out a long-running criminal conspiracy to steal from this company.”
Miller’s suit alleges that Starkey fired him “without an important reason” and that it “failed to keep its promises” to Miller.
