The principles would be detrimental because it would slash legal immigration and make it harder for employers to find the necessary talent they need to stay competitive. SHRM joined with the Council for Global Immigration (CFGI) in denouncing the principles.
“Congress and the administration should recognize employers are best positioned to determine their skills and workforce needs, and they should provide enough visas for employers to recruit, hire, transfer and retain the best talent,” said Mike Aitken, SHRM’s vice president of government affairs.
