Macy’s Tasks HR Head with Running Leaner Company

Macy’s is counting on its chief human resources officer to help it run a much leaner operation. So reports Cincinnati Business Courier.

Danielle Kirgan joined Macy’s in October and previously worked as vice president of people for American Airlines. She also had been chief human resources officer for Darden Restaurants.

Kirgan took charge of more than 140,000 employees as the department store chain said it would shut down 68 stores that employ 10,000. Macy’s also said it plans to shutter 30 additional stores in future years as leases expire or as they sell off their brick and mortar locations.
