HR Manager Accused of Stealing $130,000 in 'Elaborate Scheme'

A human resources manager at a Pennsylvania Lowe’s Home Improvement store is accused of stealing more than $130,000 in a scheme that involved 46 former employees. So reports Lebanon Daily News.

Lowe’s notified the North Londonderry Township police on Dec. 8. The police joined with Lowe’s loss prevention and other agencies to investigate and discovered an “elaborate scheme” carried out by Keynan Kinard, the 25-year-old HR manager.

Kinard allegedly stole the identities of the 46 former workers and changed their status to make it seem like they were still employed. He then tampered with the company software in a way that allowed him to increase each worker’s pay and max out their net pay, according to police. Kinard then signed up each employee for a debit card that included their pay.

The debit cards would be mailed to the store and once they arrived Kinard would withdraw the cash from the cards and deposit them in his personal bank account, police said. The scheme started to unravel when the company in charge of the debit cards finished an audit and noticed a unusually high number of cards being mailed to the store, police noted.
