Keeping HR About the People

Human resources managers can easily drift from their main motivation of why they entered the profession, but experts have tips on how to keep the focus on employees. So reports Forbes.

The Forbes Human Resources Council offers some tips on how HR leaders can stay focused on motivating their workers. Sara Whitman, managing director and chief culture czar at Peppercomm, urges firms to stay true to what they are.

"Don't put on a show to snag a candidate," Whitman says. "It's critical the candidate knows exactly what he or she is walking into and can make a smart decision about the future. The only way to know if it is a fit is for both parties to have open eyes and clarity."

Some other suggestions are for HR to approach recruiting like a marketer, strive for a diverse workforce and use technology to help workers on remote sites feel like they are in the office. Also, take a creative approach to employee training.

"Move away from the one-and-done approach to learning and toward an 'always on' vehicle for learning that can quickly pivot and adapt to meet changing needs," says Suzanne Hyatt, chief people officer at RhythmOne. "Mobile learning is always on and accessible, while microlearning allows for short bursts of learning that are easily and quickly digested and can be quickly pivoted to address new topics and purposes."
