The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is investigating the firm founded by former Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, over allegations that Viewpoint Construction Software illegally fired the workers to bolster profits, sources told The Post. This was done under Bain's guidance, the sources noted.
In August 2015, Bain hired Manolis Kotzabasakis to take over for Viewpoint's founder, Jay Haladay. Kotzabasakis and his new HR head, Joanna Nikka, soon after targeted 182 workers for firing, said Jan Sadlowski, a former human resources manager at Viewpoint.
"I'm sick of having our insurance crunched with a bunch of old people," Sadlowski alleges Nikka said.
Sadlowski said the EEOC received about 20 complaints regarding the firings. And, in a May 2017 court deposition, Jennifer Yruegas, the former VP of HR for Viewpoint, testified that the new CEO pressured her to gather a spreadsheet of employees who would be fired. Instead of turning over that information, Yruegas said she quit in 2016.
Sadlowski also noted that "they wanted me to illegally fire people." Viewpoint fired Sadlowski in 2016 after she complained to her company's board, she alleged.
