Ex-HR Head Sues Over Discrimination Against Pregnant Women, All Female Employees

The former human resources director for a Nashville, Tennessee-headquartered technology firm recently filed a lawsuit accusing the firm and its CEO of sexual harassment towards pregnant workers and for paying women less than men. So reports The Nashville Post.

The former HR director alleges in her suit that she was "subjected to an atmosphere that was rampant with sexual innuendo and bias" at Novatech. She alleges that CEO Darren Metz told her that "when women have kids, it ruins their commitment level." The comment came after the woman took over for her predecessor, who was pregnant.

Metz allegedly asked the HR director if she planned to have more children and, in front of other employees, directed "that she was not permitted to get pregnant" as long as she worked for his company. This led to the woman and her husband deciding to hold off on their plans to adopt.

Metz noted in an email response that his firm denies the allegations and "will vigorously defend ourselves in court."
