Chipotle to Ditch Denver Headquarters and 399 Jobs

Chipotle Mexican Grill will close its flagship Denver store that it opened in 1993 and with it eliminate 399 jobs in the city by March 1 next year. So reports The Denver Post.

The restaurant chain that built its fame as a leader in the fast casual, fast food market, will move its headquarters to Southern California. A federal labor law mandating that companies inform states when they plan to close down a facility or layoff many workers.

"Due to certain changes in business model and organization, Chipotle expects to permanently cease all operations" at its Denver offices, says Marissa Andrada, the company's chief human resources officer, wrote in a June 29 letter to the Colorado labor department. "While some employees will be offered relocation...some employees will be laid off."
