Tech Firms Show How They Conquer Unconscious Bias

Four technology companies are finding ways to cut back on unconscious bias in the workplace that often impacts women and people of color. So reports Forbes.

One of those firms, Ultimate Software, notes that "even experienced HR leaders can end up with certain unconscious 'blind spots,'" says Vivian Maza, chief people officer at the firm. "But there are ways to evolve and build a more open and inclusive workplace."

One way Maza's firm confronts unconscious bias is by offering generous employee benefits to all its workers. "For example, we offer a variety of benefits, from 100% employer-paid healthcare premiums (including coverage for IVF treatments), to paid parental leaves, to unlimited PTO, to onsite gaming areas and meditations rooms," Maza says. "The goal is to provide a workplace that values, respects, and serves all people."
