HR’s Role in Fostering a Company Culture That's Sustainable

Human resource leaders can play a crucial role in ensuring their companies' culture has long-term appeal and keeps employees wanting to stay. So reports Forbes.

HR is the key to sustaining a company's culture because they are charged with recruiting and retaining the people who are integral to shaping that culture, says Angela Nguyen, vice president, human capital management at Ad Exchange Group.

"No matter the rhetoric of the leaders or the operational processes in place, if the right people aren't there to manifest them into results and reality, they are nothing more than just ideas," notes Nguyen, who also is part of Forbes Human Resources Council.

HR also needs to be mindful that its company follows through on what its says it will do, says Adam Mellor, senior recruiter talent acquisition for One Gas. Mellor, also on Forbes Human Resources Council, says a lack of follow through will lead to trust evaporating.

"Companies can use big words and come up with the most elaborate, wonderful advanced plan to date, but if leadership does not do the simple things (follow through), then it is all for naught," he says. "Follow-through is everything."
