U.S. Pentagon Working On Fixing ‘High Risk’ HR

The U.S. Department of Defense is honing in on fixing the federal government's 'high risk' approach to human capital management by first focusing in on fixing human resources. So reports Federal News Network.

"As the government has continued to modernize, the HR workforce itself was not modernized at the same pace," says Veronica Hinton, the Pentagon's principal director for civilian personnel policy.

"Right now, our HR workforce is really burdened by the cumbersome complexity of our existing personnel framework," Hinton adds. "It's difficult to navigate not only for our customers, but even for... our experienced human resources practitioners. That's what makes it an occupation that we consider 'high risk.' We can't do the business of government without people, and we need competent, engaged HR experts to attract, develop and inspire the next generation of federal talent."
