Thanks to a video filter that Ocampo had previously downloaded, her image popped up as a potato. Ocampo is the political director for People for the American Way, an organization that focuses on getting Latinx voters to back progressive candidates in elections.
"So Monday morning, we had our meeting and I usually try to do a camera, and when we started the meeting, I saw myself as a potato," Ocampo said. Despite her efforts, Ocampo could not turn off the image and remained a potato for the entire meeting. "I was so confused as to why I was a potato," she said. "Of all the things I could be, why a potato?”
Ocampo may have been confused, but her staff thought it was funny enough to share outside their virtual meeting. Unbeknownst to her, Ocampo’s colleague tweeted a screen shot of the potato image that drew almost 900,000 likes. “I yam potato boss…,” Ocampo tweeted in response. “I yam glad this is making folks laugh at this time. Please stay planted at home and safe!…”
