Questioning the Value Of HR Degrees, Certifications

Conventional wisdom suggests that certifications and degrees will increase the value of human resource professionals, but not everyone buys it. So reports Workforce

Tamar Elkeles, chief people officer at software firm, Quixey, and a Ph.D., says certifications don’t matter much in her hiring decisions, but “an advanced degree provides a huge foundation for knowledge and skills.”

Herman Aguinis, management professor at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, said “a lot of time and money goes into obtaining all of these certifications and degrees,” and unfortunately, the value of those accomplishments is not always measurable.
