Is It Really Lonely at the Top?

We often wonder how successful managers get to that corner office. And, more importantly, how they keep it.

Is it the result of skills learned in business school? On-the-job experience? Having a mentor guide them on their way up the corporate ladder? Being in the right place at the right time? Possessing some innate capacity to lead?

Whether the answer lies in some or all of the above, executives with strong leadership skills do tend to stand apart from the crowd. Now, one author has a theory that such individuals rely on a unique – if logical – system of knowledge and self-awareness.
